The Replacement at Oak Ridge High School
Building Down, Building Up – The multi-phased replacement of the 50-year-old Oak Ridge High School campus was completed with more than 2,200 students and faculty occupying the campus every day…one building at a time. With the school constructed in stages to allow for demolition and staging to occur, the project required a tremendous amount of pre-planning and coordination to successfully transform the campus into the modern facility it is today.
The 315,000 square-foot campus includes a new administration building, gymnasium, three new three-story classroom buildings, a media center, cafeteria, auditorium, art/music building, field house, and concession building. Site work included new athletic fields (including baseball, football and a competition track), three-acre retention pond, a sheet pile retaining wall over 600 feet long, and all new underground utility systems.
