Vice President, International & Entertainment, Sanford
David Hayes joined Wharton-Smith in January of 1996 as a Project Manager and currently serves as Vice President of the Entertainment/International Division. In his current role, David’s responsibilities include business development for the projects in his Division along with executive oversight of division goals and performance. David owns his projects from inception through execution. He is involved in all aspects of the Entertainment/International Division projects including estimating, operations, and in-depth knowledge of all functions within the project base.
David’s relationship building skills have helped the company develop new markets and the opportunity to involve Wharton-Smith in many high-profile projects such the Atlantis Resort Phase II and Phase III; Sea World Attractions; Jimmy Fallon race through New York at Universal Studios, Orlando; as well as projects in Italy, Greece, and the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo among other unique opportunities.
Prior to joining Wharton-Smith, David was a principal of ALENCO, Inc. for nine years. Before joining ALENCO, David was employed for 10 years by CH2MHill Consulting Engineers. During his career, David has enjoyed the opportunity to develop relationships and people management skills that have served him well during his forty years of domestic and international engineering and construction experience.
In addition to his professional experience, David attended the University of Florida, College of Engineering, and graduated from Rollins College with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Business. He holds 19 contractor licenses in nine states and one territory.
David is very involved in many community activities and passionately serves as Chairman of Dig Deep, a human-rights non-profit whose vision is to ensure that every American has clean, running water.
David lives in Winter Park, Florida, with his wife and, when they are home, his two sons.
