Baton Rouge, LA – August 10, 2016 – Community members and representatives from BREC – the agency that operates public park recreation facilities in East Baton Rouge Parish – gathered to celebrate the upcoming addition and partial renovation at Forest Community Park.

The $1.3 million renovation is part of a BREC initiative for updating its most heavily used recreation centers. The existing center and gymnasium were originally built in the 1970s. In addition to energy savings improvements and a new HVAC system for the gymnasium, the updated recreation center will offer more than 4,000 square feet of additional space, including a new lobby and reception area, new multipurpose rooms, and new restroom facilities.

Wharton-Smith’s Project Manager Stephen Sentilles, and Superintendent Jason Woods were on hand during the ceremony. “The neighborhood children are so excited about this project,” said Jason. “It’s wonderful to be a part of something that will have such a positive effect on the community.”
