In September 2019, the Southwest Commercial Division was awarded the Charlotte Sports Park’s – Rays Spring Training Renovations project. We are proud to say that this project was completed just last month!

Home to the Tampa Bay Rays, this project consisted of renovating the interior of an existing building that was originally constructed in 1987 for the Texas Rangers. In addition to the renovations, 5,000-square-feet were added to create a 10,000-square-foot fitness center which includes a weight room, conditioning area, locker room, equipment storage, and laundry facilities. Additionally, the existing batting cages were enclosed to create an indoor Player Development area, including LED lighting, HVAC, and new technology to analyze body movement. See more pictures.

The project was contracted as a Design/Build with a firm substantial completion date of February 3, 2020. This allowed only five months to complete both the design and construction. With three weeks of holidays falling into the project timeline, new and creative solutions were a must.

Caryn Huff, Senior Project Manager, said, “Due to strong teamwork and great relationships with our subcontractors, the architect, and the building department, the project was completed on time with a very happy owner.”

Congratulations to the project team of Johnny Santos, Gene Willett, Caryn Huff, Doug Whisler, Jay Coker, Mike Nunez, and Susie Lampros.

Go Rays!
